Solo parts!!

Congratulations to all of you, Drama monkeys for the excellent performance during the call backs!!

Monday, October 6, 2014 : Call Backs - Name list and useful tips

We will start with the two Drama Monkeys that they didn't audition the previous Monday, Bill and Yotaro and we will proceed to the callbacks with the following order:

1. Shunta
2. Hannah
3. Kitty
4. Yvette
5. Henry
6. Angus
7. Richard
8. Victoria
9. Wilson
10. Adrien
11. Emily

During callbacks you need to sing part of a song without looking at the lyrics. Try to have some stage presence it will surely help you get a part. You need to score 4 or 5 to get a solo. If we have more people than we need, then we are going to have a second round next Monday. Not necessarily all the students participating in a callback get a solo part.

The solo parts are:

"When Verucca Says"   Solo part for MR. SALT ("now when she heard of Wonka's prize.....)
BOY

"The Girl I mean to Be"  Solo for one or two GIRLS

"Corner of the Sky"  Solo parts for 2 BOYS and maybe one GIRL

"Can't Stop the Beat"  Solo parts for 4 GIRLS and 2 BOYS.

Auditions are pretty close (we start on Monday) and the dream for a solo performance in the Christmas Show becoming veeeery real!

Welcome back, Drama monkeys!

Drama Club Introduction and Expectations 

Hello and welcome to one more exciting year with the HIS Drama Club.
As you may know, this year we are not going to present a play at the end of the school year, but we will remain active and train constantly on drama approaches and kinesiology.

All previous Drama members are welcome to come back and all new students (Grades 4,5,6) who would like to join us, entry is only available after audition (please find the audition name list here below).

In order to have the most successful, fun and productive year possible, please keep the following in mind:

• This year, all members will work mostly on acting, vocal training and dance routines. This means that you will have to act, sing and dance for all of us during each session.
• Please remember that we are a team - we rely on each other and we support each other: treat everyone with respect and understanding.
• You need to come to the Club, ready to work! Disruptive behavior is not accepted.
• Make sure that you are wearing comfortable clothes for Drama Games and Dance Routines (girls, skip the skirts please!)

We will perform for the Christmas Performance - this means that you need to let me know in advance if you are going to be available on the date of the performance so you can get a role.


 Being in the Drama Club is a big commitment and takes a lot of dedication!

Here are some tips for you to ensure that your audition will be successful and with the least possible stress:

• Actors should arrive at auditions fully prepared, not just ready to perform, but also to present any requested material. Examine the audition notice; have you null all the lines of your monologue?  Is your monologue big enough? Do you remember the lyrics of your song? Have you rehearsed your pantomime number in front of the mirror? 

• Show the director how reliable you are by showing up at least five minutes before the audition. Be courteous, but don’t be too talkative. Avoid behaving too shyly, chewing gum and be ready to ask questions like: "Why do you want to join the Drama Club"?  or "What is the thing that you love in Theatre"?  or "How many theatrical plays have you watched, which is your favourite and why?".

• If you have chosen to perform a monologue, make certain that you have rehearsed it completely. Do not just know the lines, know the character you are becoming. Let the director see a striking difference between the person that just said hello, and the character that is now coming to life through your acting.
