Safety comes first!

Hi everyone !

I would like to remind you some of the basic rules of the Drama Club. These rules, as you already know are here to protect you from possible injuries and to secure that you will be able to work on your call backs or role with safety and positive mood.

WORKING AT SCHOOL:
Sometimes, we use our recess time to work more on the roles/call backs.
We have two places for our meetings: The dancing room at 2nd floor and the auditorium at the basement.
While we're in the dancing room we can only practise our lines , our songs and our choreography.
The room has mirrors which helps us to have a specific idea of how do we look while performing, singing, or dancing.
While we're downstairs, at the auditorium we can use the gymnastic mats to practise gymnastic exercises.
Now, safety comes always first which means even if we are very comfortable with the exercises and even if we have the mat, we never practise alone. Either me or Mr. Burt has to be with you.

Not to mention that the dancing room is NOT the proper area for gymnastics because of the mirrors.

WORKING AT HOME:
Working at home has the advantage that you can have your privacy and try some acting without having others to watch you while experimenting new things.
It's a great idea if you start performing in front of your family members so you won't be that stressed during call backs.
Gymnastics at home, is not good idea!
If you don't have someone who knows how to help and how to prevent accidents, don't try it at home.
Usually, the furniture we have can be very dangerous while performing an exercise, even if it is a very simple one such as a cartwheel.

WORKING DURING DRAMA CLUB:
Keep in mind that in our show there some other parts that may be dangerous to perform without having first the right training.
For example, there are some "fake falls".
In order to act these falls first you need to develop special skills. You will work with me and on a mat so to understand first how we can fall on the stage without injuring ourselves. There are certain ways to fall down and look real without hurting any part of your body.
When you develop that skill, you have to develop trust to each other, so you can let yourself being pushed by your fellow actor and fall.
These skills need a lot of time and effort and  when you will be able to perform them on stage you will have reached one of the peaks of your acting.
In order to achieve this, you need to follow the rules and NEVER try anything by yourself alone.

See you on Friday and keep on smiling!
